Into The Wild

Americans, including myself, are interesting. Tonight I went to Barnes and Noble and sat in there for about an hour reading John Krakauer's Into The Wild. I got through chapter six (50-something pages) just because it was intriguing.

That's great, right?

Yes, but what drew me to that book? Was it a glowing recommendation from a friend? No. Was it a recommendation from my mom, the librarian? No. Was it because it was on Oprah's Book Club? No. The reason I went there to read that book was because someone took it and just released a movie based on that book. Otherwise, I doubt I would have even paid attention to this publication. Ridiculous? Pretty much.

The freggin thing was published in 1996. And it is just now on Barnes and Noble's best sellers shelf.

Crazy Americans.

[By the way...so far a great read. I am going back.]
